lawyers sites

one of the big problems in indiana, and reallythroughout the country, are falls at construction sites with all the building going on in unitedstates and the pressures the owners put on the contractors to get the job done. in fact,a lot of contracts even have a clause; if you run over, you pay a penalty of 1,000 dollarsa day until you get the job done. you start with that premise, and a general contractorwill push the subcontractors and their employees to get things done and cut corners. a lot of ironworkers, for example; we’vehad a number of cases of ironworkers who are 30 or 40 feet above ground and have not puttheir lanyards on, have not been tied off. maybe the materials haven’t been provided,or they’re just told to get the job done

and they fall. we’ve had a number of caseswhere they fall 30 feet, they live with a horrendous brain injury. we’ve been ableto hold, in those cases, the general contractor responsible because the general contractoralmost without exception has signed a contract with the owner that we will take responsibilityfor worksite safety and we’ll make sure that everyone is protected; even employeesthat work for the subcontractors. for more information, contact doehrman buba at (800) 269-3443
