need lawyer

today we're going to talk aboutthe 5 things you need to know when you're facing criminalcharges. i'm steve kramer of the kramer law firm and i'm acriminal defense attorney here in florida. the first thing thatyou need to know is that you have an absolute unmitigatedprivilege with your attorney. attorney-client privilege, sotell your attorney the truth. that helps us represent youin your case, come up with a defense, and get a good resultfor you. the second thing you need to know is that you shouldnot talk to anybody about your

case. meaning if you're sittingin jail, don't talk to your cellmate because they call thatperson a snitch. sometimes they take a deal and then testifyagainst you. don't talk to your friends. don't talk to yourfamily. don't talk to anybody about your case except foryour attorney. this is really important. and definitely don'tgive any statements to the police. because - this is numberthree - your right to remain silent. you have an absoluteright to remain silent. that's your fifth amendment right tonot incriminate yourself. this

is really important in criminalcases because the only thing that talking can do, generally,is get you in more trouble. the next thing you need to know iswhen to hire an attorney. and the time to do that is beforeyour arraignment. what is an arraignment? an arraignment iswhen you are formally charged by the state of florida with acrime. and if you hire an attorney before your arraignmentsometimes you can wind up on a different path then if youdidn't hire an attorney. sometimes the case can be nippedin the bud before you're ever

charged. because if there isn'ta good basis to charge you with a crime we can attack thatbefore you're ever charged. and that's at the intake level inthe state attorney's office. once you get passed that intakepoint, now your file is in someone else's hands and you'vealready taken that next step and it's hard to go back. and thelast thing you need to know is whether you've been served witha notice to appear or an arrest. right? if you were arrested youknow what's going to happen next - you bail out of jail andthe court tells you your next

hearing date. a notice to appearis a little bit different. that's for more minor chargeslike, for instance, open container of alcohol. a lot oftimes you just get a ticket and it says notice to appear. butthat's really important that you go to that hearing, that'sactually just like your arraignment - that is yourarraignment. and that is really important because if you don'tshow up you're going to jail. so, these are 5 things youdefinitely need to know if you're dealing with a criminalcase. why am i telling you this?

because if you're facingcriminal charges then you probably have questions and wedeal with this stuff all the time. i'd love to talk to youabout your case. call me at the number below and i'd be glad totalk with you. also, if you're watching this video on facebookor youtube, click that "like" button and you're going to dothis that way your friends and family can benefit from theinformation that i'm sharing with you. don't forget to callme. i'm steve kramer, the kramer law firm. thanks for watching.
