welcome to the northwest justice project's veterans project if you have ever served on active duty in the u.s. military, you live in washington state, and you are low-income, you may qualify for free legal help. the northwest justice project's veterans project gives free legal help to low-income veterans with certain) legal problems. we can give legal advice, representation, and referrals on non-criminal legal issues. for example, we can review and help adjust the amount of current child support, back child support, or interest you may owe

help vacate criminal convictions and seal criminal records that prevent you from working and help you get your driver's license back if a license suspension prevents you from getting to work or medical appointments. if you were discharged from service less than 15 years ago, we may be able to help you with a discharge upgrade we may help you appeal decisions that deny, reduce or change veterans benefits for you, your spouse, or your kids. we may also help with legal issues involving your housing or landlord, and some consumer law issues, like help with debt collection and scams involving your veterans benefits. if you've served any length of time in the armed forces and need help with one of these legal issues, call us and ask for the veterans project attorney.

you can call (206) 464-1519or toll-free throughout washington at 1-888-201-1012 if you are threatened with home foreclosure, the northwest justice project's foreclosure prevention unit may be able to help you. f you need help with a foreclosure call 1-800-606-4819 to see if you are eligible for free legal help. for other legal issues, we may be able to give you a referral. here are some more important resources in washington to help with legal and other issues. veterans in king county can call the king county veterans information and assistance call center at 1-877-904-vets. veterans throughout washington can call the washington department of veterans affairs at 1-800-562-2308. you can also contact your local veterans service officer (or "vso"). you can find a list of vsos on the washington department of veterans affairs website.
